The Bupa Great Manchester Run is staged over a course of 10km, which has been officially measured and certified.
In 2010, the start line was on Portland Street near the junction with Oxford Street while the finish line was on Deansgate.
There were two Aqua-Pura water stations on the course at approximately 5km, near to Old Trafford, and just before 7km mark where runners rejoin Wharfeside Way. Other facilities for runners included the “run-through" shower at the 6.5km point.
In addition, there were several Bands on the Run positions throughout the course to ensure runners receive that all-important musical boost at regular intervals.
Please note that there are tram lines in the city near to the start area: thousands of pedestrians walk across these each day so they are perfectly safe but runners ere advised to watch their feet and look both ways before crossing!
