General conditions of entry
- Conditions and race instructions:
By entering the race you agree to abide by the Conditions of Entry and any
race instructions given to you by the organisers and officials of the BUPA
Great Edinburgh Run 2006.
- Entry fee:
£25 for all BUPA Great Edinburgh Run competitors over 16.
- Medical condition: It is strongly recommended that you train for the run and prepare for the challenge. If you have not exercised before or for some time, consult your doctor for a check up. If you have a medical condition, please complete the details on the back of your race number.
- Wheelchair entrants:
Edinburgh is a hilly city that is represented in this course. Although there are several short climbs around the course there are two main hills which are Holyrood Park, a steady 1.3km long climb and then when you come of Princes Street onto the mound – this is a 265m long climb. It is therefore recommended that you evaluate the difficulty of the route before entering the race.
- Race mementos:
Only finishers will receive Race mementos. Race numbers are NOT interchangeable.
Non-participants are NOT eligible for event mementos.
- For reasons of safety:
No entries are permissible from people on roller skates, in wheelbarrows,
pushchairs, carrying various objects for charity etc .
- No pets, dogs or horses.

So that we can keep you informed about Great Run events and other services.
This information may also be made available to other carefully screened
organisations to contact you. If you prefer your name not to be included,

- Data protection:
The BUPA Great Edinburgh Run complies with the Data Protection Act 1998
and you have the right of access to your personal records held on our computer.
- Use of image:
By entering the race you give permission for the free use of your name, voice
or picture in any broadcast, telecast, advertising, promotion or other
account of this event.
- Race cancellation:
In the event of the race being cancelled or delayed due to unforeseen circumstances
will endeavour to stage the race at a later date. In such circumstances
we will try to let you know in writing of the cancellation or delay. Our
entire liability in respect of all costs and expenses you may incur as
a result of such cancellation or delay will be the entry price you have
paid to take part in the event.
- Race numbers:
The swapping of race numbers is strictly prohibited and participants must
complete their details and sign the back of the race number prior to the
event. Race numbers will be sent out approximately 2 weeks before the event.
- Change of address:
If your address details change after you have submitted your application
you must notify Great Run accordingly with details of your old and new
details and date of birth. Contact info@greatrun.org or write to Great

- Disclaimer :
I accept all the conditions of entry and acknowledge that the organisers
shall not be liable for death, personal injury, or loss or damage as a
consequence of my participation in the BUPA Great Edinburgh Run 2006,
except with regard to death or personal injury which is caused by the organisers'
negligence.
This event is timed with 'ChampionChip' system. The chips are expensive to
replace and it is a condition of entry that applicants agree to pay £10
if they lose or do not return their chip within 30 days after the race.
Entry Policy
Entrants must be at least 16 years of age on 7th May 2006 .
Applicants will be accepted up to the entry limit in order of time and date
received.
Entries will be rejected after 7th April 2006 or earlier should the entry limit
be reached before this date.
The organisers reserve the right to remove this online entry form without recourse,
and with immediate effect.
Consult your bank, credit or debit card statement for confirmation of run entry.
Full race information and your race number will be sent to you by the organisers
approximately 2 weeks before the event.
Refunds will only be eligible if supported by a doctor's note and if received
by the race organisers by 21 April 2006 . All refunds will be liable to a £5.00
administration fee. Your Doctor's note should be sent to Great Run Customer
Services, PO Box 1RY, Newcastle upon Tyne,NE99 1RY.
REFUNDS WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE FOR ANY OTHER EVENTUALITY
All entries are non-transferable either to a different participant.
Deferment Policy
All fees are non-refundable.
However a person who has been accepted as an entrant in the 2006 BUPA Great Edinburgh Run who subsequently decides not to run prior to the event is eligible for a guaranteed place at cost in the 2007 BUPA Great Edinburgh Run.
Entrants can only defer their place for a maximum of one year.
Once the entrant has committed to deferring their entry they cannot be reinstated into the 2006 event. Your decision is final.
All requests to defer entry must be made prior to the event. No deferrals will be made retrospectively.
The following procedures must be adopted when requesting a deferment:
Deferment by post will be accepted if the letter is postmarked up to 5 working days before the event. Where the race number and chip timing device have been issued these must be returned with the letter as confirmation of the decision to defer entry.
When deferring your entry until 2007 by post, the letter must clearly state: Name, Address, Date of Birth, Confirmation of deferment and be signed by the entrant. This must be accompanied by the race number and chip timing device if these have been received by the entrant prior to deferment.

Entrants opting for deferment will be added to a database and will be contacted prior to the opening of entries to the 2007 BUPA Great Edinburgh Run. They will be given a period of 28 days to commit and pay for the guaranteed place in 2007. Once this time period has passed the offer of the guaranteed place automatically lapses and the race organisers have no further commitment to providing a place to the runner in the 2007 BUPA Great Edinburgh Run.
Transferring the guaranteed place to another person will not be permitted.
Corporate Challenge terms and conditions of entry
Entries will be accepted for Male, female and mixed teams.
Male / female teams - Minimum of 4 entries per team, maximum of 8 per team. Mixed
teams minimum of 2 male and 2 female entries, maximun of 8 entries per team. Incomplete
team entry forms will not be accepted. All team members must read and agree to
the general conditions of entry as shown opposite. All team members must sign
the entry form. One entry fee cheque for the total amount due, payable to BUPA Great
Edinburgh Run is due with this application. Team members must be at least 16
years of age on race day. All entries must be from bona fide full time employees
of the company who have been employed for at least 3 months prior to race day.
No temps or part time staff allowed. An employee cannot be entered to more than
one team. For example, a female runner may NOT be listed on both a female and
mixed team entry. All entrants must agree to the standard terms and conditions
of the event, as detailed on the entry form. All runners must certify that they
are medically fit to run and fulfil the employment requirements previously listed.
Each team must nominate a team captain who will be responsible for receiving
and distributing the race numbers and event information packs. Scoring Prizes
to the first 3 teams in each category will be awarded based on the following
scoring system: Male / female: accumulated first 4 finishing times to count.
Mixed team scoring: accumulated first 2 male and first 2 female times to count.
