About the Run

Known as the UK’s most scenic urban course, the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run has been a permanent fixture in Scotland’s capital city since 2005. Thousands of runners take to the streets, raising millions of pounds for charity every year.

The 2012 Bupa Great Edinburgh Run saw some 8,500 runners enjoy spectacular views in the autumn sunshine, on a day that included the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run 5K and the Bupa Junior and Mini Great Edinburgh Runs.

The elite field consisted of Team GB and Edinburgh's own Olympic Marathon runner, Freya Murray who finished second behind Jess Coulson of the Stockport Harriers. Scotland's leading marathon runner Andrew Lemoncello finished second in the men’s race behind England’s Tom Humphries.

Other well-known faces included John Michie who plays Karl Monro in Coronation Street, and Bupa Great Run favourite Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard in Emmerdale. Both ran for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Gourmet Food Court
Putting the runners' taste buds through their paces, the Gourmet Food Court provided quality food from culinary talents The Hungry Gecko; runner-up of the British Street Food awards 2012 and Masterchef Finalist 2011.
