A person who has been accepted as an entrant into the 2017 Great North Run who subsequently decides not to run prior to the event is eligible for a guaranteed place at the standard entry fee in the 2018 event.
Once the entrant has committed to withdraw their entry they cannot be reinstated into the 2016 event. Your decision is final.
All requests to withdraw entry must be made prior to the event. No withdrawals will be made retrospectively.
The following procedures must be adopted when requesting a withdrawal:
- Withdrawal by Email (can be done before 1st July 2017)
If you would like to withdraw your entry please email email@example.com with your request. Please clearly state your name, date of birth and post code.
- Withdrawal by Post (after 1st July 2017)
You will need to wait for your race pack to arrive. When it does, please visit page 45 of your event day magazine for the full instructions.
In order to withdraw your place until 2018, you must send back the completed withdrawal slip on that page along with your race number/timing chip to the following address:
Great North Run 2017 Withdrawal
PO BOX 1RY
Newcastle upon Tyne
- Withdrawal in Person (on Saturday 9th September)
If withdrawing your entry in person you must bring your race number/timing chip to the Great North Run Information Desk at the Great North Run Pasta Party on Saturday 9th September 2017. For more information about this please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What Happens Next:
Entrants opting for withdrawal will be added to a database and will be contacted (via email) prior to the opening of entries to the 2018 event. Charity withdrawals will be passed back to the relevant charity to action. They will be given a period of 28 days to commit and pay for the guaranteed place in 2018 Once this time period has passed the offer of the guaranteed place automatically lapses and the race organisers have no further commitment to providing a place to the runner in the 2018 event. Transferring the guaranteed place to another person will not be permitted.
