Great Peace Run and Walk

In 2018 it will have been exactly 100 years ago since World War I came to an end. The 'Great War' was the scene of unspeakable cruelty. One of the most important fronts was situated in the western-most part of Flanders, with Ypres as its focal point.

On 6 May you will have the opportunity to remember this historic moment alongside runners from all Allied countries during the Great Peace Run: a half marathon visiting iconic monuments and places that played an important part in the events of 1918.

The course of this unique experience run and walk starts at the famous Menin gate, continuing on through Flanders' Fields, including Hill 60 and Hill 62. The finish is drawn on the town square of Ypres in front of the “In Flanders Fields” Museum.

Change Walk <-> Run is free. Caution: Race numbers for walkers do not include a timekeeping chip. If you change from the walk to the run, you will have to collect a new race number at the help desk. Procedure: First collect your walking starter pack and then head to the help desk.

Changing your distance is free. You will only have to pay more if you are changing from 10 to 21km: + €15

There will be separate changing rooms for men and women as well as a storage place for sports bags. Caution: individual pieces of clothing and plastic bags will not be accepted. Make sure to bring a sealable (sports) bag with all your belongings.

Timing on the run is done using an electronic chip. This chip measures the net time from start to finish. That means your time will only start running once you cross the start line. This extra service ensures a more accurate timing and is included in the registration fee.
Make sure to properly attach your race number to your chest to ensure the timing system works correctly.
