Take on the one-swim, one-run event in and around Loch Lomond as a team of two (where one person does the run and one person does the swim) or as an individual. Whether you're brand new to the open water, you're training for a triathlon or just fancy trying out something new, why not come along to the scenic surroundings of Loch Lomond and enjoy a day in the great outdoors?
You'll have to be quick though... places are limited!

How to enter
Familiarise yourself with the information below and ensure you leave plenty of time to drop off any baggage, travel to the start line and get warmed up. You must check-in 30 minutes before your start time.
Please allow time to drop your running kit in the transition area prior to checking in for your swim start.

The 800m swim course uses the Great Scottish Swim half mile course and the 5km run takes you around the Balloch Castle Country Park.
The swim course will be based on the Great Scottish Swim ½ mile course but unlike the ½ mile course it will start and finish at the Duncan Mills Memorial Slipway. The run will be a single, predominantly flat 5km multi-terrain lap that heads out to Balloch Castle Country Park and back.
HOW IS THE EVENT TIMED?
The event is continuous - your overall time starts as soon as you cross the timing mat on the entry to the water and finishes when you cross the timing mat at the finish line. The less time you spend getting changed into your running kit after the swim the faster your overall time.
In the results your overall time will be split into separate times for your swim and your run but your run time will include the time you take in the transition area.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
The change from swim to run takes place in the transition area, which is an open plan space near to where you exit the water. For speed of change (and modesty!) it is easiest to run in the swimwear/trisuit that you wear underneath your wetsuit. Technical kit, which is lightweight and fast-drying, is most comfortable. Alternatively additional clothing (shorts, tops) can be stored in the transition area and put on after you have removed your wetsuit.
WHAT FOOTWEAR SHOULD I USE ON THE RUN?
The run course is multi-terrain but is predominantly based on hard paths and is suitable for normal running shoes or multi-terrain shoes. It is not suitable for spikes!
IF I WANT TO DO IT AS A TEAM, HOW DOES IT WORK?
When entering as a pair you will need to decide which one of you will do the swim, and which one will do the run. You can select these options in the entry stream.
HOW DOES THE TRANSITION AREA WORK?
On arrival you will be allocated a space where you can lay out your running kit (running shoes and running kit if not worn under your wetsuit). You then report to check-in/swim start in your swim kit.
When you enter the transition area following your swim you get changed at your allocated space leaving your wetsuit, swim hat and goggles neatly stored before heading out on the run. It is recommended that you bring a small plastic storage box/bag to place your swim kit into.
When you have finished you will be allowed back into the transition area to collect your kit.
PLEASE NOTE: For security reasons access to the transition area is restricted to competitors and event staff.
