The inaugural Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run is shaping up to be a day to remember, as the family run has reached capacity two weeks before the event takes place.

Three-hundred young runners and budding athletes will take on a one mile route around the city centre on Sunday 27th August, starting and finishing on Union Street.

Taking place in the afternoon after the 10k and half marathon events, it gives children from the age of three the chance to run, jog or walk with their friends and family.

The 10k distance sold out last week and there are limited places available in the half marathon, which will close on Monday 14th August at 16:00.

Kerry Simpson, communications manager at The Great Run Company said: “The Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run isn't just for adults, it's a great day out for the whole family, and we can't wait to see people of all ages crossing the finish line in two weeks, all in aid of fun, fitness and fundraising.”

The Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run is a brand new event from the organisers of the Simplyhealth Great North Run, the world's biggest half marathon, held every year between Newcastle and South Shields.

It's being delivered in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, VisitAberdeenshire, and Aberdeen Inspired. It is being supported by the Aberdeen City Centre Masterplan.
