The Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run is no stranger to a celebrity, with many famous faces joining the running celebration in the city every year.

So if you’re on the lookout for your favourite soap star, sportsman or musician, then these are the familiar faces to look out for at this year’s Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run 10k.

Katie McGlynn

Katie aka Sinead Tinkler in Coronation Street, has decided to swap the ‘street’ for the start line when she takes on her first 10k on Sunday 20 May. She’s running in memory of her grandad and to raise funds for Spring Hill Hospice, which cared for him when he was severely ill with prostate cancer.

Cherylee Houston

Katie’s fellow factory girl Cherylee Houston will be making her second appearance at the 10k this year, raising funds and awareness for TripleC.  The actress, who plays Izzy Armstrong in Coronation Street, is the driving force behind TripleC, which aims to make a change in the access of the arts for the next generation.

Denise Welch

Actress and TV personality Denise Welch is a regular at the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run and this year she’s keeping it in the family by bringing along her 17-year-old son Louis and his girlfriend Grace. They’re raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, although Denise doesn’t think Louis will want to run with his mum for long!

Samia and Sylvain Longchambon

The Corrie star and French ice dancer met when they were paired together on Dancing on Ice in 2013 and took on the Great Manchester Run together the following year. The couple are returning in 2018 to raise funds and awareness of the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.

Anthony Crolla

Local lad and former WBA Lightweight Champion Anthony Crolla will take on the 10k for the fifth time this year. He’s leading a team in a boxer V. boxer showdown, with the opposition led by former light middleweight champion Jamie Moore. Who will be crowned the champions?
