We’re back with five more tips for maintaining your 2016 running goals. To check out part one of our tips series, head over to the Great Run blog .

IMPROVE YOUR DIET

This doesn’t necessarily mean losing weight or eating salad for every meal. It’s more about improving your diet to energise and help you recover in order to get the best out of your training schedule.

GIVE BACK

Taken part in a number of Great Run Local Events? Want to give something back to the sport? Why not volunteer as a course marshal or assist at another local event. Spurring your fellow runners on will help to motivate you too.

BE FLEXIBLE

If you can’t make an evening run go the following morning instead, and cut the distance or time if need be. By missing the run altogether you’re more likely to give up on your resolution completely.

RUN MORE FREQUENTLY

To put it simply the more, you run the better you become. Check out one of our plans for more advice on adding more runs to your schedule.

RUN YOUR FIRST RACE

Check out the Great Run event list and pick a race based on your current fitness levels. Research shows once you have entered an event it keeps motivation levels high and you’re more likely to achieve your goals.  Why not find a race a bit further from home and make a weekend of it?
