The Simplyhealth Great Newham London Run returns to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday, 2 July for one of London’s most anticipated mass participation events.
Sunday is shaping up to be one of the best yet with a brilliant field of enthusiastic runners ready to enjoy the sights and sounds of East London in this iconic setting.
Organised in partnership with Newham Council, the Simplyhealth Great Newham London Run is the only event on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park that finishes inside the London Stadium. Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales is an honorary starter, where 10,000 people will take part across both events.
Runners in both the 10k and 2k Family Run will get to enjoy their own golden moment as they finish their race on the same track as London 2012 legends Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis-Hill.
Commenting, James Glover, Simplyhealth Chief Corporate Affairs Officer said: “As title partner of the Simplyhealth Great Newham run we have one simple aim to get #millionsmoving. We’re delighted to see so many runners of all ages and abilities taking part as our passion and purpose is all about helping people to make the most of life through better everyday health.”
Participants in the Simplyhealth Great Newham London Family Run will get the opportunity to run alongside five-time British Olympian Jo Pavey, who is taking part with her husband and two children on her return to the London Stadium.
Pavey said: “The Simplyhealth Great Newham London Run is the perfect opportunity for people and families to get active whatever experience they have.
“I can’t wait to see my kids running on the track and for them to experience the feeling of the crowd cheering you on to the finish line. It will be a day they’ll never forget.”
