It’s time to celebrate 20 years of the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run.
The event has always been a celebration of all that is great about Manchester; whether running for charity, in memory of loved ones or to overcome individual challenges, every runner personifies the undefeatable spirit of the city. With a rollcall of world-beating past winners, famous faces on the start line and all the action televised live on the BBC, the event is a North West icon. This year’s landmark 20th event promises to be the most special yet. To echo the event’s renowned start line anthem, quite simply, This Is The One!

We are very excited to introduce you to our AJ Bell Great Manchester Run Team – Humzy, Eryn Barber, Samantha McGowan, Dan (The Running Manc), Amy Hughes and Run Wild MCR – otherwise known as #TeamEilish! The team will be exclusively mentored by Eilish McColgan over the next 8 weeks, with regular online sessions with the UK and European 10k record-holder and will be following Eilish’s 10k training plan to run their greatest run at the event’s 20th anniversary.

In recognition of this incredible 20th milestone, we’ve commissioned local artist, Alex Francis, to create an illustration that embodies the experience of the run and celebrates some of our incredible participants. Those featured are part of our 20 Years, 20 Stories campaign looking back on unforgettable stories from two decades of running in the capital of the North.
The Great Manchester Run has come to be known as an experience which truly embodies the Mancunian characteristics of industry, solidarity and local pride and those featured in the illustration bring these qualities in abundance. The illustration will be used in the build-up to the event, on finishers t-shirts and as part of the event day experience.
