Run Your City
The Great Bristol Run is an action-packed day of running, with the 10k and Half Marathon events taking place on the same day, along with the Great Bristol Family Run. Starting and finishing in the heart of the city, the route offers stunning running at every turn, taking in some of Bristol’s most iconic landmarks. It’s an inclusive celebration of running, with music blazing, crowds buzzing, legs pumping and fists bumping. It’s quite simply the best in the South West!
In partnership with VI Runners Bristol we are excited to stage the VI Runners 10K Challenge once again in 2022.
Our joint ambition is use this event to promote and drive up participation in running for people registered as severely sight impaired (previously “blind”). Full details can be found here.
Great Bristol Run entries are open to runners aged 15+ (10k) and 17+ (Half marathon) on the day of the event.
If you have any queries about Great Run events, see our FAQ section here.
Below is the provisional event day timetable and wave start times. Please note, this may be subject to change, and we will communicate your specific colour wave and assembly time on your run number.

The 10k route starts in the city centre and takes runners past the vibrant waterfront before crossing on to Spike Island, through Wapping Wharf and a loop around the beautiful Queen Square which marks the half way point – runners then cross over into Redcliffe before rounding the historical Castle Park on a final section through Old City, before the grandstand finish on Anchor Road.
The Half marathon route takes runners past the vibrant waterfront and out along the beautiful and peaceful Avon Gorge passing under the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, before joining the 10k route at Spike Island.
Please note course may be subject to change.

One in two people now survive cancer. Together we’ve achieved so much, but we won’t stop until we’ve beaten it altogether. Join the team today and we will beat cancer.

Every 15 minutes a child comes into care in the UK. Many will have suffered neglect or abuse; all will experience trauma and loss. Home for Good has an ambitious vision to find a home for every child, where they will be loved, nurtured, and enabled to thrive. We seek to inspire people into welcoming a vulnerable child into their family; to step forward to foster, adopt or become a supported lodgings host. We then journey with them every step of the way – from inspiration right through to post-placement. This involves equipping the local community to offer the wraparound support that they need. Join us in finding a home for every child that needs one.
St Peter’s Hospice is the Bristol area’s only adult Hospice. We care for local patients with life-limiting illnesses and their family members. Our care is provided free of charge at the point of service, however, it costs over £20,000 a day to provide all the incredible services that we do, in people’s homes, at our Hospice in Brentry, and across the greater Bristol community. We rely on our retails shops, gifts in wills and local people to fundraise for us. Running for your Hospice is a great way to support! For more information, visit our website.
We recognise that it takes more than medicine to meet the needs of cancer patients and their loved ones. For over 40 years we have provided people in Bristol with free practical, emotional and social support they need to improve their quality of life and to manage the fear and uncertainty that a cancer diagnosis may bring. People with cancer are feeling more isolated and afraid than ever before but with your help we can be there for them. By running and fundraising for us, you can ensure our services keep going. Together we can change life with cancer. For good.
