Great Run Event Withdrawal & Refund Policy

Should a customer wish to withdraw from an event having already entered and paid there are several options;

1. Medical Withdrawal
2. Immediate entry cancellation
3. Event Distance Transfer
4. Entry Exchange
5. Entry Deferral

1. Medical Withdrawal
This applies for all senior Great Run events aside from AJ Bell Great North Run – see separate policy.

We offer a refund in the case of a medical issue preventing the customer from taking part in the event. This is only applicable up to 6 weeks before the event and on production of a medical certificate. If a discount is used at time of purchase, the entry fee paid will be subject to refund and not the standard advertised fee (if different). All refunds incur an admin charge of £5. (refund is issued minus £5 admin charge) If the refund applies to a group entry the admin charge is £5 per person. Contact us here to request your refund. You will need to confirm your full name, date of birth, the name of the event you have entered, along with your medical certification. We can accept a copy of a medical note, copies of appointment letters, physio notes.

2. Immediate entry cancellation
This applies for all senior Great Run events aside from AJ Bell Great North Run – see separate policy.

If the customer decides that they no longer want to take part within 3 days of entering, regardless of reason, we will refund the entry fee. All refunds incur an admin charge of £5 (refund is issued minus £5 admin charge) If the refund applies to a group entry the admin charge is £5 per person.

Contact us here to request your refund. You will need to confirm your full name, date of birth, the name of the event you have entered and confirm that you are requesting the immediate entry cancellation refund.

3. Event Distance Transfer
This applies for all senior Great Run events aside from AJ Bell Great North Run – see separate policy.

In events where we offer multi distances, participants can transfer to the shorter distance (subject to there being capacity within the event). Transfer up to a longer distance is not permitted. Contact us here to request this.

Pre race number allocation – up until the point whereby entrants are allocated their race number and fulfilment takes place, the entrant will be issued an online entry token for the shorter distance event, and they are removed from the longer distance event. No admin fee is charged, and no entry fee is refunded.

Post race number allocation – Once race numbers have been allocated and race packs have been sent out (6 weeks prior to the event weekend), distance transfer requests will be managed at the event site customer info and an admin charge will be incurred. Runners wishing to change distance must present their race number to be replaced for the shorter distance equivalent (subject to there being capacity within the event). All distance transfers incur an admin charge of £5 to be paid at the point of transfer but with no additional entry fee.

4. Entry Exchange
This applies for all senior Great Run events aside from AJ Bell Great North Run – see separate policy.

A runner, who is no longer able to take part, is entitled to reallocate their place in an event to another participant for a fee of £10. This option is only available prior to number allocation and race packs being sent out (individual dates to apply for each event and will be published online)

The existing runner contacts us here to exchange their place and supplies the new runner’s email address. The new runner is then issued an online entry token to pay the £10 fee whereupon the existing runner is replaced in the system with the new runner.

5. Entry Deferral
Great Run event entries are non-transferable into subsequent years events and we do not offer a deferment policy aside from the AJ Bell Great North Run (see separate policy).
