2018 Junior And Mini Manchester Run Open For Entries

Entries for the 2018 Simplyhealth Junior and Mini Great Manchester Run are now open.

Manchester’s biggest children’s running event will return to its city centre location on Sunday 20 May where thousands of children can take on an exciting course that makes the most of Manchester’s dynamic backdrop.

The 2018 event will start and finish at the 10k and half marathon startline on Portland Street and participants will be able to experience the unrivalled and electric atmosphere that the city of Manchester has to offer.

Budding runners, school friends and young fundraisers will have the exciting opportunity to follow the city centre route that will be ran by elite athletes like Sir Mo Farah at this year’s Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run.

The Simplyhealth Junior and Mini Great Manchester Run features a 2.3k course for juniors age 9-15 years old and a 1.5km course for mini runners age 3-8 years old.

The youngsters will follow an out and back route through Manchester city centre, travelling along Deansgate and passing The Bridgewater Hall before returning to Portland Street and crossing the finish line in front of cheering crowds.

The events are perfect for parents taking part in the 10k event, as the kids’ events start and finish before the starting gun fires on the 10k.

Parents who are taking part in the 10k can wave their children off and cheer them across the finish line before taking part in the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run themselves.

Highlights of the 2017 event included teen music Max and Harvey being honorary starters of the event and treating participants to a performance as they crossed the finish line, as well as superstar fundraiser Ella Chadwick taking on her home event for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.
