Amazing Claire Lomas Completes Her #10In24 Challenge
Paralysed fundraiser Claire Lomas MBE has completed her toughest challenge to date at the Simplyhealth Great South Run, by walking the 10 miles over 24 hours in a bionic suit.
Claire, who was left paralysed from the chest down 10 years ago, crossed the finish line of the world’s leading 10 mile run in Portsmouth on Monday 23 October.
She was aided by the revolutionary Rewalk Suit, that allows her to walk by tilting her pelvis.
Claire started her #10in24 challenge from the Simplyhealth Great South Run start line on Sunday 22 October along with 20,000 other runners and continued throughout the day and night with no sleep.
A full day after setting off, Claire crossed the finish line on Clarence Esplanade, which was full of hundreds of cheering supporters who have been inspired by her journey. Supporters followed her progress by using the hash tag #10in24 on social media.
Claire has already raised over £500,000 for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation and hopes that tens thousands further can be added to the total through her challenge.
