The UK’s biggest 10k is back. Get ready for an unforgettable 10k or half marathon journey through the streets of Manchester. Starting in the heart of the city, runners soak up the buzzing atmosphere and booming Manc anthems all the way to the finish line on Deansgate.
With entertainment zones that celebrate local character and culture at every kilometre, some of the best (and loudest!) crowd support anywhere in the world, and all the action televised live on the BBC, this is an event day experience like no other.

We’ve put plans in place to ensure you can be COVID confident when you book a Great Run event in 2021.
- All events will be staged with the full support from all key stakeholders, follow the latest government guidance and be compliant to the latest regulations.
- We will continue to plan right up until the date of the event, and will communicate any changes or updates via email and here on the event page.
In the scenario of a 2021 event date change or cancellation by us and for whatever reason, all entrants (including 2020 rollovers) will be automatically deferred into the subsequent staging of the event.

Run Up To Race Day!
Great Manchester Run Solo is the perfect training partner and designed to guide you through your training, keep you motivated and get you in start-line shape for event day.
The challenge is to complete 25 runs in the 8 weeks building up to the Great Manchester Run, from 2 August to 26 September.
It costs £15 to join, however if you have an entry into the Great Manchester Run the challenge price is discounted to £12.50. Your entry fee includes a unique finishers medal, access to our online tracking tool and support throughout the challenge.

Francis house Children’s Hospice provides care for children, teenagers and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. At our base in Didsbury, Manchester we support over 500 families from all over the North West, providing specialist care in a homely, happy and secure place. We help the children to live life to the full and offer much needed support, friendship and encouragement to their families. We need over £4.2 million in charitable donations each year to continue to provide our services which include respite care, sibling support, end of life care and bereavement counselling. St Ann’s Hospice cares and helps around 3,000 patients and their families and carers every year who are affected by cancer and non-cancer life limiting illnesses. We deliver care that is special and unique to each individual person. Around 40% of inpatients at St Ann’s Hospice return home after treatment. We provide care on 3 sites and in people’s own homes, working in partnership with acute hospitals, primary care trusts, community services and voluntary organisations.
Barnardo's supports around 300,000 children, young people, parents and carers across over 1,000 different services, including adoption and fostering, young carers and child sexual exploitation. The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. As an emergency response organisation, we change and save lives every single day of the year. Whether it is a global event like an earthquake or a house fire in our local community, the Red Cross will often be the first on the scene and the last to leave. As well as emergency responses and international work, we also provide many vital services right here in Greater Manchester, including wheelchair loans for adults and children (free of charge), A&E discharge and support, First Aid training, Refugee Support as well as local Emergency Responses. HideOut Youth Zone provides a safe and inspiring place for thousands of young people aged 8 – 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, to enjoy their leisure time. Located on Hyde Road in Gorton, HideOut Youth Zone is a charity dedicated to supporting Manchester’s young people by providing three things they need and deserve – somewhere safe to go, something positive to do and someone trusted to talk to.
Inside the Youth Zone, young people are welcomed by friendly, qualified staff and a team of committed volunteers. We are open whenever school is closed for young people, ensuring they have the opportunity to take part in over 20 fun and engaging activities every day including sports, arts, music, media, dance, drama and much more. Employability workshops and support is available for anyone who needs help getting into employment, education or training. Inside our enterprise suite, we encourage individuals to dream big and develop their entrepreneurial skills.
The Stroke Association are the UK’s leading charity dedicated to conquering stroke. We deliver stroke services across the UK, campaign for better stroke care, invest in research and fundraise to expand our reach to as many stroke survivors as possible. There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That’s one stroke every five minutes. The Lewy Body Society (LBS) registered charity, established in 2006, the first registered Charity in Europe which is exclusively concerned with dementia with Lewy bodies. The charity's mission is to raise awareness of Lewy body dementia amongst the general public and educate those in the medical profession and decision-making positions about all aspects of the disease as well as to support and fund research into the disease. For thirteen years the LBS has raised awareness, provided support and information, and funded research into DLB, which is the second most frequent cause of age-related neurodegenerative dementia.
