Everything The Christie charity helps to fund is outside the scope of the NHS. This means we rely, almost entirely, on kindness of people who come forward to support the additional research, the next new treatment and even better care for our patients at The Christie. 

With 84p in every pound raised going to directly to patients, our fundraisers allow us to continue to go above and beyond for our patients and their families, and ultimately bring us a step closer to a future without cancer.

Francis House Children’s Hospice provides care for children, teenagers and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. At our base in Didsbury, Manchester, we support over 500 families from all over the North West providing specialist care in a homely, happy and secure place. We help the children to live life to the full and offer much needed support, friendship and encouragement to their families. We need over £4.7 million in charitable donations each year to continue our services which include respite care, sibling support, end of life care and emotional and bereavement support. Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. Along with our free national helpline, open 365 days a year, we also provide a number of localised services; such as our entrenched rough sleeper service, securing accommodation for those sleeping on the streets, and our Inspiring Change services; employing those with lived experience of homelessness, and working with them to shape our services to provide even better support.   By fundraising for Shelter at the Great Manchester Run, you’ll ensure we can keep these, and many other vital services going. St Ann’s Hospice cares and helps around 3,000 patients and their families and carers every year who are affected by cancer and non-cancer life limiting illnesses. We deliver care that is special and unique to each individual person. Around 40% of inpatients at St Ann’s Hospice return home after treatment. We provide care on 3 sites and in people’s own homes, working in partnership with acute hospitals, primary care trusts, community services and voluntary organisations.

Help children with cancer regain their identity by running for The Little Princess Trust.  We support young people who have lost their hair through cancer and other illnesses by giving them a real hair wig.It costs £550 to make a wig and we also pay for all the fitting and styling costs to help restore a child’s identity at such a tough time in their lives.In addition to the wigs, we have committed more than £5million to projects investigating childhood cancers and kinder treatments.  We promise we won’t stop funding clinical trials until we reach our goal of ensuring that no child dies from cancer.  Run for us and give hair and hope to children! Meningitis Research Foundation fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia, provide life-saving awareness information, and support people who have lost a loved one or are coping with after effects. #TeamRMHC will be returning to the streets of Manchester to take on the Great Manchester Run, and we’d love for you to join us. Choose between a 10K or half marathon route and experience a community through a vibrant city like no other. Ronald McDonald House Charities provide FREE ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with a sick child in hospital. All 14 of our Houses in the UK are just minutes from the hospital, meaning a family can be by their child’s bedside whenever they need, day or night. Your fundraising will help us to continue to provide families with a comfortable place to stay for as long as they need, giving them more time and energy to focus on being together whilst their child is in hospital. In 2018, our House in Manchester housed 865 families for an average stay of 21 nights.

The Lewy Body Society (LBS) registered charity, established in 2006, the first registered Charity in Europe which is exclusively concerned with dementia with Lewy bodies. The charity's mission is to raise awareness of Lewy body dementia amongst the general public and educate those in the medical profession and decision-making positions about all aspects of the disease as well as to support and fund research into the disease.  For thirteen years the LBS has raised awareness, provided support and information, and funded research into DLB, which is the second most frequent cause of age-related neurodegenerative dementia.

Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. We’re the only charity dedicated to providing expert care and support from the moment they hear the word cancer. We treat them as young people first, cancer patients second and everything we do aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival. The Foundation was established in Tim Bacon’s name to recognise his achievements, continue his legacy and to echo his legendary spirit of generosity.  The businesses he led and worked in changed the face of Manchester's restaurant scene leaving his unique mark on friends, employees and customers alike.
