North West Families Urged To Be Their Greatest In 2018

The Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run is looking for families from around the North West who would like to set themselves the personal challenge of getting fitter together in 2018.

The event, which will take place on Sunday 20 May, is offering four sets of free entries, along with training plans, expert led sessions and ongoing advice, to support families on their journey to the start line.

The offer covers adult entries into the main 10K event, as well as the opportunity for kids aged three to fifteen to take part in the popular Simplyhealth Junior and Mini Great Manchester Run on the same day.

David Hart, from event organisers the Great Run Company said, “We’re hoping that we can inspire people to start a new chapter in their family story in 2018. We know how hard it is for parents of young children to stay fit and healthy while also juggling the demands of home and work life.

“This challenge can help them set realistic goals that will benefit the whole family, and with our support, give them the opportunity to be positive role models for their kids when it comes to being healthier and more active all year round.”

The Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run is the UKs biggest 10K, it welcomes people of all ages and abilities to a running celebration in the heart of the city centre. Heading out of town the course goes past Old Trafford, the Imperial War Museum and the Lowry before heading back to the spectator packed finish line in the shadow of Beetham Tower on Deansgate.

The Simplyhealth Mini and Junior Great Manchester Run takes place on the same day as the adult event so young runners and budding athletes can experience the buzz and even share the same start line as their mums and dads.

If you and your family would like to be considered, drop the event organisers a line on familychallenge@greatrun.org and let them know why you’d like to sign up. Applications close at midnight on Sunday 17 December and the four successful families will be contacted on Monday 18 December.
