A CHARITY is calling on runners to take part in the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run to raise funds in the memory of its former trust chairman.

Steve Mycio headed up the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust between 2015 until his death in 2016, and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity is assembling a team to take on the 10K which takes place on Sunday, 28 May.

Steve, a keen runner himself who took part in the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run many times, passed away in December last year after an illness.

A passionate Mancunian, Steve had a message written on his office whiteboard which read: “What have you done today to make the people’s lives of Manchester better”.

Now, the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity is recruiting runners to raise funds in his memory for the new diabetes centre.

As part of the Steve Mycio Team, runners will receive a full fundraising pack and bespoke T-shirt, as well as the opportunity to join the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity team on the day at the charity village in Albert Square.
