RUNNERS taking part in Great Run events are being given the opportunity to save money on their entries after a new season ticket initiative was launched.
The Great Run 10K Season Ticket offers entry to four events for the price of £85, working out at £21.25 per event, covering the Great Birmingham 10K, Great Bristol 10K, Great Manchester Run, Great North 10K and the Great Scottish Run 10K.
All runners need to do is choose four of the five events on offer and the discount will automatically be applied.
Runners taking part in four of Great Run’s 10K events over 2016 will also have the opportunity to compete for the inaugural Great Run Haile 10K Cup.
Non-elite runners can compete for cash prizes, running products and a trip to Ethiopia for the opportunity to meet legendary distance runner Haile Gebrselassie, who has endorsed the competition.
The winners of both the male and female competitions will be decided based on the cumulative time of athletes competing at four 10K events in 2016. The events included in the competition are the same as those listed for the 10K season ticket. The fastest four times from a maximum of five events ran by an athlete decide the overall results at the end of the year.
Prizes are available for the overall competition as well as for U23 and V40 categories.
Athletes wishing to compete for Great Run ‘Haile’ 10K Cup are encouraged to purchase the 10K Season Ticket in order to make a significant saving on the event entries.
