The 2017 Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k has reached capacity and will welcome a record number of 13,000 runners to the start line.

The event has now cemented itself as Britain’s third biggest 10k. Organisers of the 10k, which takes place on Sunday 7 May, have seen a high demand for entries which have now completely sold out.

The event, which will start and finish in the city centre this weekend, will be a packed day of sport for all ages, with the Simplyhealth Great Bristol Family Run also reaching full capacity.

The thousands of runners will take to Bristol’s streets on Sunday, where they will take on a scenic route that makes the most of the city’s picturesque backdrop.

Starting on Anchor Road near Millennium Square and Bristol Cathedral, the Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k runs parallel to the historic Bristol Harbour before continuing along Avon Gorge and taking in the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge.

The return route takes in Spike Island and the Cumberland Basin before passing the soaring Gothic St Mary’s Redcliffe, finishing on Anchor Road close to the start line, so that runners can meet up with family and friends and make the most of the bars, restaurants and attractions at the Harbourside.

After the 10k, children and their families then take centre stage for the inclusive Simplyhealth Great Bristol Family Run. The mile long run, which takes place in Millennium Square, is for all abilities and is designed to allow kids and their families and friends to enjoy getting active together.

The run also features a Wrong Trousers themed fancy dress competition, staged in partnership with the Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.

Many runners use the 10k as the perfect training run for the Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half Marathon; this event takes place on Sunday 17 September and has already sold 50 per cent of its entries.
