If you have a question about the challenge that isn’t covered below please email us at: greatrunsolo@greatrun.org
You can join a Great Run Solo challenge at any point.  Challenges start on a Monday, so you can choose to start on the Monday just gone, or the next Monday in the calendar. All of the distance challenges need to be completed within 7 or 28 days of your chosen Monday start date, depending on which challenge you choose.
All challenges start on a Monday and end on a Sunday. Depending on which challenge you choose, your challenge period will be 7 or 28 days. If you are doing a weekly challenge then the finish deadline is before midnight on Sunday. If you are doing a 28 day challenge then the finish deadline is before midnight on the fourth Sunday. Results can be logged up to 14 days after the finish deadline of your challenge. If results are not submitted within 14 days we will assume the challenge was not completed and you will not receive a medal.
To join, simply select your challenge and then choose which Monday to start your challenge. You will receive an email confirming that you have joined your chosen challenge once the sign up process is complete.
Yes, if you notify us during your challenge period that you wish to switch challenges, then we will be able to move you to a different challenge. Please email solo@greatrun.org. We will not be able to move you to a different challenge once your challenge period has ended.
We suggest you use a tracking app to log your running activity – any tracking app or watch can be used.  For a guide to tracking your activity, see our help section. Once you have completed your challenge, you will need to come back to our website to log your results to get your medal. See below the evidence requirements for each challenge type:
  • 7 miles in 7 days challenge – tracking app screenshot upload is required
  • 50k, 100k and 150k distance challenges – screenshot upload is not compulsory
  • Junior 7k in 7 days challenge – finish time upload is required
Great Run Solo challenges are open for all, and we’ve created challenges to suit all ages and fitness levels.  For runners aged 15 & over, there are various distance challenges (7 miles, 50k, 100k & 150k).  For junior runners aged 14 and under, there’s the 7k in 7 days challenge.
On completion of your challenge we will send you a shiny Great Run Solo medal to wear with pride. Medals will arrive approx 1 month after you have completed the challenge. For international runners, there is an additional £3.50 charge to cover medal postage.
