What’s new at this year’s Great Birmingham Run?
The countdown is on to the Great Birmingham Run, the midlands’ biggest and best running event. Following covid-enforced cancellations in 2020 and 2021, we’re very excited to be back running together in 2022.
New for this year, the 10k and Half Marathon events will be taking place on the same day, to create an even bigger celebration of Brummie running. It’s a run for everyone, from locals to celebrated athletes, whether it’s your first 10k or your 50th half marathon.
Key components of the event that runners know and love will return for 2022, including a city centre route past iconic landmarks, high-energy music zones, roaring crowd support and an unbeatable atmosphere, but it’s about to get even better!
We’re pulling out all of the stops to make it a comeback to remember – new for 2022, runners can look forward to:
A live start line DJ. An awesome DJ truck will be pumping out a high energy set to help runners find their groove for the challenge ahead. Expect motivation levels to sky-rocket as you cross that start line.
Timed pacers powered by music! Our awesome pacers are always on hand to give runners the best possible chance of smashing out a personal best, but this year they’ll be blasting out tunes all along the course to keep motivation high.
New high-energy (and slightly bonkers) cheer zones. We’ve lined up 13 rocking on course music & entertainment zones to keep legs pumping and smiles on faces. They’re all great, but the new Run Thru Carnival Zone will have you wondering if you’ve been transported to Rio!
Supersized medals! Get ready for one or two post-race selfies with our bigger and better medals, featuring an exclusive design that encapsulates everything that makes Birmingham great.
Bullish finisher t-shirts. The snazziest t-shirts in town are a just reward for our runners as they cross the finish line. Designed using the Birmingham Colour Palette Company, it brings together iconic colours from across the city.
A post-race party! Runners, families and friends can kick back, relax and enjoy the post-race celebrations in our new Après Run zone. The afterparty will feature more great music as well as food and drink stalls. Full details to be announced soon!
