From live bands to cheering busses to the all-important jelly babies, this year we have more than 17 entertainment points across the 10 mile course… that’s roughly one every half mile!

Here’s what you can expect from the Simplyhealth Great South Run course this year.

The Rose and Thistle Pipes and Drums are a Gosport and Portsmouth based band. They’ll give you a boost at the end of Park Road with the Great Highland Bagpipes, Scottish Side Drum, Tenors and Bass.

Her Majesties Band of the Royal Marines will help you sail past HMS Victory and through the Naval Base at 3 miles.

MILE 3.5

Local Samba band Batala Portsmouth is back playing upbeat Afro Brazilian Samba Reggae music at the bottom of Winston Churchill Avenue. Just along from there you’ll find the first charity cheering bus from Alzheimer’s Society, so give them a wave as you head past!

Garmin, our official wearable technology partner, will be out at the 4 mile point blasting the anthems to help you #beatyesterday.

MILE 4.5

You’ll find the second charity cheering bus at 4.5 miles, brought to you by Cancer Research UK, which has over 700 runners taking part this year!

Look out for the Priory School band, there to entertain you!

MILE 5.5

The first of our Powersong sections can be found at 5.5 miles at the top of Serpentine Road, blasting out the running anthems to keep you going.

Look out for the Simplyhealth Support Zone on South Parade which will be armed with volunteers, music, a live commentator… and jelly babies!

MILE 6.5

You’ll see the final charity cheering bus on St. Helen’s Parade, with volunteers from Naomi House and Jacksplace providing the cheers.

MILE 6.5 & MILE 7

To keep the momentum going on the last section of the course we have another Powersong section providing the tunes at 6.5 miles and again at 7 miles.

MILE 7.5

Henderson Road’s very own Maggie Baker will once again transform her house into a live music venue to cheer on the thousands who pass it at the 7.5 mile point… a real highlight of the course!

As you head onto the seafront for the last two miles, you’ll head through the Kellogg’s Special K Zone and get a much needed boost from the final Powersong.

Wave 105 will bring the party to the final mile with their Wall of Sound. They’ll be playing motivational hits to spur you on for the last stretch on the way to the finish line and supplying a sugar boost with more jelly babies.
