What’s new at this year’s Great Bristol Run?

Great just got greater at the Great Bristol Run. The 10K and half marathon distances have been popular with South West runners of all ages and abilities for decades, but organisers are pulling out all of the stops to make this year the best yet.

New for 2022, runners can look forward to a live, start line DJ, pumping out a high energy set to help them find their groove for the challenge ahead.

Timed pacers, there to make sure runners have the best possible chance of smashing out a personal best, will be powered by music, blasting out tunes all along the course to keep motivation high.

A brand-new on-course entertainment area will be a high energy and slightly bonkers zone guaranteeing a whole lot of noise. Runners have the option to run through it or sidestep this zone.

This year, the finish line is not the end. As runners cross the line to complete their challenge they will also have the chance to enjoy an Après Run zone in Millennium Square for the very first time. Billed as the perfect place for post-race celebrations, the afterparty will feature more great music as well as food and drink stalls, ensuring the celebrations continue long past the finish line.

Get ready for one or two post-race selfies with our bigger and better medals, featuring an exclusive design that encapsulates everything that makes Bristol great.

All of this is in addition to the unforgettable Great Bristol Run atmosphere and experience that runners know and love, including more than 10 on course music and entertainment zones. Here’s what else you can expect to see (and of course hear) whether you’re taking part or cheering on this year:

  • People’s Playlist: Power through this section with tunes chosen by the runners – guilty pleasures and anthems galore! This is your playlist for your run.
  • Pump It UP and Beats Boost zones: Pump It UP and Beats Boost will get your legs pumping that little bit quicker to the finish line. Powered by our awesome DJ Trucks, expect motivation levels to skyrocket.
  • Bands On The Run: We’ve lined up some of the very best bands and local musical artists to provide the soundtrack to your run – they’ll have you bopping, clapping & singing as you run past.
  • Charity Cheering Points: Loud cheering, clapping and hollering your name – the charity cheering points provide instant motivation and inspiration for runners.

The popular Family Run event is also back, with the kids (ages 3+) taking centre stage and giving the budding running stars of the future a chance to claim their own finisher’s medal.

There is still time to join us on Sunday 25 September for an inclusive celebration of running, with music blazing, crowds buzzing, legs pumping and fists bumping. Starting and finishing in the heart of the city, the route offers stunning running at every turn, taking in some of Bristol’s most iconic landmarks.

It’s quite simply the best in the South West. Find out more or enter here.
